This new pub tucked away at the end of a neon-filled sub-soi of Sukhumvit 24 is anything but hidden. Primp cries a giant sign flashing its pinkness as if beckoning, “come one, come all” to the in crowd that lurks about The Emporium. Expect to mingle with them here: young professionals and energetic enough to party all night.
Once you make it to the end of the tiny alley opposite The Emporium’s taxi stand, the gray facade is rather plain (you couldn’t guess that from the pink sign on Soi 24), with a few couches on a small deck and a more discreet sign indicating that you have come to the right place. Upon entering, however, you’re greeted with bold swatches of red and black and a shiny metallic disco ball sending its rays bouncing all over—which happens to be the definition of “primp”—sparkly and shiny. You can choose to sit on the big lounging sofa area under a Che Guevara in Mickey Mouse ears, or you can just grab one of the garish camo-motif stools and order a Heineken (B110) or two.
Upstairs is another option, decorated with the same bold red décor and a pool table in one corner for those who get bored of chatting. There’s also a live band that plays twice a night, starting from 9pm until 12:30am, jamming tunes from Thai pop rock hits to smashing inter radio favorites. When the band is on a break, house and hip hop can be heard blasting from the speakers hanging off the walls.
You can order a bottle of Johnnie Walker Red (B850) or Black Label (B1,250) if you’d like to blend in with the interior, or you can sip on their choice of cocktails (B150). Shots are also available, such as the Tsunami (B200), a fiendish mix of Grenadine and maeng lak seeds.
