80/20’s chefs open an affordable new lunch spot.
Fresh off gaining a Michelin star at 80/20, chefs Napol “Joe” Jantraget and Saki Hoshino are gearing up to launch a new standalone restaurant, Krok, this Jan 15.
Since going upscale at 80/20 early last year, the pair have become known for their refined approach to Thai cuisine, but here they’ll be dialing it back to basics under the premise that everyone should have access to good food. The nam prik-dedicated shop will serve set menus (B100-160) with a choice of protein, rice and vegetables. Examples include a set of smoked eggplant nam prik with rice, fish, fried chicken, a soft boiled egg and daily vegetables and pickles (B160) and a set of traditional nam prik kapi (shrimp paste) paired with braised duck (B100). Be sure to get there early—with just 12 seats, they’ll only serve until the food runs out each day.
In the future, diners can also expect homemade ice cream by chef Saki, as well as various chef’s tables and pop-ups—including one dedicated to Saki’s awesome desserts.
