The buzz: Beer Mansion is the first (and, so far, the only) watering hole focusing on beer to have opened in Mansion 7, Ratchada’s latest retail complex developed by the same people who brought us Hua Hin’s faux retro market Plearnwan. Specializing in draft beers, the bar, once fully operational, will also feature a DJ and house band.
The décor: Hidden inside the haunted house-style enclave, the humble-sized two-story establishment features a wild West saloon-inspired décor with wooden stools and barrels doubling as tables. We love the towering ceiling, which makes the place look a lot larger that it is. Stay on the first floor to dance to the DJ or climb up the steep metal steps to hear the band on the second floor.
The music: Expect the usual servings of popsanova in the early evenings. The beats pick up with house and hip hop numbers as the night wears on.
The crowd: At the moment it’s a few curious passers-by and an after-work crowd looking for some shelter during the storm.
The price: Beer B100-220, whiskey B1,250, vodka B850/bottle. Mixers start from B30. There’s no food on the menu at the moment, so make sure you eat before hitting this joint.
